Parental Responsibilities
San Jose Pacific Pony Baseball is operated by the parents of the various players in the league. Several parents are elected each year to fill positions on the league Board of Directors. Others still volunteer as managers and coaches for the various teams. However, a successful season requires the participation of all of the parents in the league to varying levels.
To execute a successful season, parents should be ready to commit to the following:
- Ensure your child(ren) are properly uniformed and equipped at all games and practices.
- Praise in Public. Express criticisms in private.
- Support league fundraisers to the maximum extent possible. Meet all mandatory fundraising obligations.
- Be ready to support manning of the snack shack during two games for each child in the league. Generally, actual obligations are much less than this.
- Take ownership for the league activities. If something is amiss, take action to constructively inform those responsible.
- Inform the league when the parent has a skill valuable to the league and has a willingness to volunteer that expertise.
It is understood that some parents are able to provide only a limited amount of volunteer support hours to the league. To accommodate some family needs to the maximum extent practical, most support activities such as snack shack, field maintenance support, etc. are generally organized at the team level rather than a family level. Managers, coaches, and team parents can then figure out the best way to organize their parents to provide the necessary support for the league.
